It’s ADHD awareness month!

I thought ADHD was something about hyperactive boys who sounded perfectly “normal” like me, when I first heard of it in my 20s, and I wasn’t convinced it was real and didn’t think about it again.

I finally educated myself (after really struggling with lots of things for a few decades) at 44, was diagnosed at 45 – and it’s been a game changer. Everything makes sense now, which really takes the edge off, at least from my experience.

Neurotypical friends! Please have a go at understanding how our ADHD brains work because our struggle is real despite being mostly invisible, and you might not know it’s likely 5 or 10 percent of your friends have it, as we can be pretty good at masking it, even from ourselves.

ADHD kin, and those who may suspect it in themselves, feel free to reach out if you need a chat as this post is for you! You’re not alone. Indeed increasingly I’m learning most of my favourite people have ADHD too!
