Climate change could cause more fires.

“A new study has found bushfire risk across Victoria will increase significantly, due to climate change.

The study, funded by the Federal Government, found the number of days of very high or extreme fire danger will increase by up to 70 per cent over the next 45 years.

The Federal Environment Minister, Ian Campbell, says the Government will act on the results.

‘It’s a risk we can prepare for by ensuring all of the things that we know could help prevent bushfires, fire reduction and keeping properties safe,’ he said.

‘All of the things that we’ve learnt from previous investigations need to be acted upon.’”
